Peyton Angels and Funny Story

Remember when I asked for prayers for my friend and her son Peyton? If not, go back and read it here. Prayers are still needed  Update he has been released from the hospital and is now at home. They are going forward doing proton therapy. He had to go yesterday and get a mold made for his head/face to wear for the therapy. If you wouldn't mind please go to his fb page titled "Peyton's Angels" and like it. (https://www.facebook.com/PeytonsAngels)

Lynn is a single mom of twins. She is one of the strongest people I know. When Todd left to come down to TX for a few months before the kids and I Lynn and LB both came knocking at my door one night with beer and pizza. True friends!

Okay so now we need some laughter right? Well when you hear the term everything is bigger in Texas well it is so totally true! Let's start with a little background with me shall we? I grew up in a small country town in Indiana BUT I lived in town..make sense? I don't do bugs, critters, snakes nothing. Shoot my mom or Todd has to kill spiders. My dad doesn't do spiders either but that is a totally different story.

So last time I am on Face Time with my friend Leslie. We had been chatting for awhile and then I asked her if she wanted a tour of the house. Of course she did. We get the tour of the downstairs no problem. We go upstairs first stop the master bedroom. Then we proceed to go into the mater bath. I start showing her around until I get to the shower. Then I see this!

A TREE COCKROACH!!!!!!!!!

Okay let's set a couple things straight before we go on with the story. 1. We are not dirty people. We are more OCD clean freaks. I had cleaned all day yesterday. 2. The husband was working with tearing down some tree branches which I still have no clue what that was about but in my mind I'm thinking he wanted to play with some tools. 3. I think he brought it in after working in the brush because he came right in and showered and there it was in the shower. 4. You have issues when you have the smaller ones. I txt our landlady and she said "Welcome to TX" so apparently this is normal. I am not a fan of this new "normal"

Moving on...so as I am on Face Time with Leslie I go Oh my god there is a HUGE bug....it's like 10 inches long. She starts laughing because well she knows how I am. So I yell down to Todd. He gets up (I stay downstairs I was not going back up there) and he is going to take care of it. First I thought I heard the water running so apparently he wanted to bath this critter. Then next I hear the sweeper. He comes down like a proud hunter carrying the bucket thingy to the sweeper to empty it. He tells me what it is. I just give him a WTF look. So I go back upstairs to finish the tour. I go back to the bathroom because I hadn't showed the closet yet (its a huge closet). I notice Todd has the hairspray out. I go back downstairs and ask him about it. Husband sprayed the critter with hairspray first! I am not sure about you but I am dying at this point in time. Him and I enjoyed a few laughs over that one! I am just glad that it was found while he was home because lord knows what I would do if I had to take care of it!

A new me

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately. I am not happy with myself....more as to the way I look. Last night I went to take a tour of a gym, LA Fitness. That place is really really nice! So today I am going to sign up. Like any good wife once they spoke money I told them I would have to come home and speak to my husband about it. Obviously he is not going to say no. I had Gannon almost two years ago. I can't use him as an excuse to loose the baby weight anymore. I did really good when he was born. I lost most all the weight then winter happened and the snacking happened...and I gained most of it back. I am really upset with myself on the way I have let myself go. I used to be a gymnast so I had a banging body...one that I was very pleased with and I was healthy. The husband did get onto me saying that I have let myself go since having our oldest. Well all you other moms out there I hope will agree with me that we just do not get any "me" time. My day consist of cleaning, cooking, breaking up fights, and keeping the kids busy so they don't get bored, and an educator.

I want to start feeling good about myself again. I want my husband to be proud to show me off. I want to start a new me down here. I always get tired mid day so maybe this will help. I am not worried to what the number on the scale is because when working out I am going to build muscle. I don't want to have the body builder look I just want to get more toned. I am concentrated more on how my clothes fit and the size of clothes I am buying. Yesterday I started back on my Shakeology and I felt a lot better during the day. It made me full for most of the day. I didn't snack as much. I have also tried to cut soda out of my diet. I am drinking more water. The only time I have a soda is if I am craving it really bad or if I have a bad headache and I need some caffeine to try to take it away.

With all of this being said this weekend I am going to go purchase some new workout clothes. I got a gift card for my birthday and I am going to use it on that. I have compared some stores on their workout clothes and my goodness I can't believe the huge difference that there is. I am very excited for a new me! :)

What are some of your favorite workouts and classes?

Weekend

So Friday was my 30th bday and it was full of surprises! I facetimed my parents first thing Friday morning. When we moved my parents packed a "birthday box" for me. So Todd has had it in the closet for me. They were able to watch me open it and I loved everything they got me! They got me a seahorse candle holder, a sun wall hanging thing, and a wall hanging about family. All came from Kohls! They sent me two cards! I got one card on Thursday and the other on Friday. My Friday card had a gift card in it! I can't wait to use it!! Todd had to work all day so it was low key during the day. I did the normal housewife duties of cleaning and taking care of the kiddos! The kids and I went swimming and once Todd got home he joined us. While we were swimming the BFF had flowers delivered to me! She is the BEST! Instead of going out for supper we ordered in some Chinese then Todd had an ice cream cake made. All in all it was pretty good.

Saturday was so hot out. Todd worked and didn't get home until around 6. The kids and I went swimming and hung out and stayed cool. Not an exciting Saturday. Sunday Todd worked on his car because he is selling it. We don't need three vehicles. He has a company car so it is dumb for him to have a car that just sits in the garage that we are making payments on. We were going to go to the beach but due to the Tropical Storm and we didn't know which way she was going to go we opted to stay home. We figured the waves were going to be huge.  Choppy water and huge waves not a good combo for kids. We opted just to swim here at home. I made a Sunday supper and we watched Big Miracle. If you have not rented that movie you must! It is so good. My oldest son has watched it twice. It is cute because he has been asking questions about Alaska and the North Pole.

What did you do this weekend? :)

Dirty 30

Today is my Birthday. Obviously by the title you probably have figured out I turned 30. I was so cranky last night! Verdict this morning 30 isn't so bad! It has been fantastic so far, I've been able to skype with my parents for the longest time and open their presents and they got to see it. My in laws have called me. I've was greeted with a text, tweet, and fb message from the bestie. I have also gotten so many fb "happy bday" messages too!

On the agenda for today the kids and I are going to swim and get our tan on. Once Todd gets home from work we are going to order Chinese for supper and maybe some birthday cake if the husband ordered one! I've got the best family and friends!

Have a great weekend! Are you doing anything fun this weekend?

I feel dizzy!

Happy Thursday!!! Can ya'll please pray for my friend Lynn? Her 4 year old son went into his 2nd brain surgery within 4 days this morning. Please pray for steady hands for the doctors while operating on him. Also please pray for Lynn. She is one strong momma! Love you Lynn!!!

This video totally cracks me up! Todd showed this video to me. His instructor showed silly videos everyday before they started training and this was one of them! There is so much serious stuff going on in the world I hope this brings a little smile to you! :)

Prayers are still needed

The other day I requested prayers for one of my besties, her son was rushed to the childrens hospital for bleeding on the brain stem. He has an inoperable brain tumor. He goes into surgery again tomorrow to put in a shunt. Country Roots City Living: Prayers needed

Please keep the prayers coming. There are prayer chains going on all over the world right now. He is a twin and they are the most precious little boys ever.

Thank you! :)

What I am loving Wednesday

So as I was showering today (TMI?) I was thinking of a few things I am totally loving here lately!

I've got my hair highlighted for summer. It is really my natural color but after having kids horomones have made my hair go darker...not a fan. Gotta keep the cute blonde up right! So I have been using this TRESemme shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. It has totally helped with my frizz for this Houston heat. It just looks so soft and I am in love!

I love this little gem! It is a clarasonic. Now you can get the real one for about $150 or you can get basically the same thing for $19.99 at CVS. I have the one from CVS. I also have the face wash that goes with it. It has made my skin look so young. I do not use it everyday. I use it about maybe three times a week. When I am not using that I just use the moist towelettes to wipe my makeup off. It takes everything off.

I am only kind of liking this....my birthday is Friday. I am turning the dirty 30. It really hadn't bothered me until we moved. Knowing I am not going to get to spend it in Indiana with the rest of my family and friends kind of bums me out. Don't get me wrong Todd and my kids are my family now but it is still the fact of the matter that I won't get to spend it with my other family.  My parents did however put a "birthday box" in the moving truck. I have not opened it yet. I have been so good about it! I also know that Todd got my present today and he said it was awesome and is trying to give it to me now. I told him if he gave it to me now then he will need to go get me another one to open on Friday. (Yes I am a kid about birthdays) He told me nice try he would take me out to supper. So now I have to figure out where to go in Houston...so many choices!

Oh before I forget I am also loving my new followers!! YAY! :)

Fur babies

My fur babies had a long ride from Indiana to Texas. Todd only had to stop about 4 times. Each time he stopped he let them run for about 20 mins then they were done for and ready for a nap. My babies are lazy! When Todd left I put them on a diet. The husband loves to feed them all the time. With them being a large breed we need to watch their joints and what not. The diet has been successful because they have lost a good amount of weight!

Now onto this Texas weather my dogs are NOT taking to it very well. Daisy is the only healthy one! The boys (Carson and Ollie) are becoming very high maintenance. We had to take Carson to the vet on Friday. He had to get a cortisone shot and blood taken (testing for heart worm). He has developed allergies and his hind area and hind legs are molting....he is bare! We can't leave him outside or poor little guy will get a sunburn. Ollie has always had allergies. He has always snorted and what not. He has also always had a chronic ear infection that we never seem to be able to get rid of. So he went to the vet yesterday. He got a cortisone shot and some ear medicine. He keeps itching but he is not molting like Carson. I do have to laugh when Ollie goes down our stairs. His big ol butt just wobbles from side to side and he takes his time. He moves like an old man (he is only 5). Daisy is so not graceful going down the stairs she plops and it looks as if she is going go fall down the stairs. It's the funniest thing ever! I love my babies!! :)

First week in Texas

Todd picked the boys and I up from the Hobby airport on Sunday. I was so excited to see once we left the airport there was the first palm tree!! I LOVE palm trees!! Todd was laughing at me because I am never quiet I always have something to say...on the way to our house I was hardly talking I was taking in all the sights. Todd was pointing out the downtown area, galleria area, and medical district! We got to the house and I was walking through it and taking it all in. Todd kept following me through the house (Todd picked it out by himself). I wasn't saying much it was all overwhelming to take everything in. Todd did a fantastic job on picking out our rental. I do have to say I want to live a little more outside of the city than like The Woodlands or Conroe area. I did go out alone on Sunday to the grocery all by myself and DID NOT get lost!!

I also went to Target and Old Navy alone last week. I didn't have to use my GPS to get there but I did on the way back just so I wouldn't miss my road to turn on. Today once Gannon wakes from his nap I want to make another trip to the outlet mall. Can we say holy outlet! This place is HUGE and its only about 15 mins from us! SCORE! Todd also laughs at me because every time he took an overpass this weekend I would hold on.

This isn't even the tallest overpass!

This post is so all over place! Sorry! :) So on Saturday we decided that was going to be our beach day. We wanted to go to Surfside and try that out. It was so much fun! You can drive your car up on the beach, bring your dog, and the best part it was not crowded! The water was not the pretty blue that you would think of and there was seaweed up on the beach but it was so much fun and everyone was so so nice.

On the way back I was taking in the sites. Todd came a different way back home. He pointed out this one building that is the tallest building outside of a downtown area. He said he was told it was in the Guinness book of world records. So that was pretty cool.

Sunday we chilled since Friday and Saturday we were on the go. Friday afternoon we went to Kemah and we to the boardwalk. That was so fun for the kids and it was fun to see all the boats and stuff. Sunday Todd took us to show us The Woodlands and Conroe. Totally in love with that area!

Anyone else excited to see Magic Mike?

Week at parents part 2

So on Wednesday the bestie came over and we took our older kids to the pool for the day. We grabbed some McDonalds on the way home. Lets face it swimming = hungry kids. LB and I did not get into the water. We worked our tans not to mention the water was FREEZING! Needless to say I put sunblock on and still got burnt! WTH!! By Wednesday eve we were pretty well done and tired. Once we got back to my parents house that evening the kids and I just hung out and relaxed. (Sorry not posting the pic that was taken at the pool)

Thursday once LB got off work we had to go get one last pedi/mani together. I stayed simple and picked a coral color and got a design on the big toe. My mani I got the same color as what I got on my toes. Speaking of mani does anyone else have issues of chipping like a day or two after getting a mani? Mine does it all the time. I even went out and purchased a no chip to put over the top...it didn't help! LB got a little wild on her toes and put a neon color on them. Seriously on the way home it looked like a black light was on her toes. Her mani she calmed it a little bit. :)

Friday was spent running errands and saying my goodbyes to family. My Aunts, Uncles, Cousin and close family friend that is more brother than anything came over Friday night and visited and said their goodbyes. Sorry no pics on this either my eyes were so red and swollen.

Saturday was the sucky day! Saturday morning bright and early LB came over. We did fine for a little bit. :) She even fixed my hair for me. Girlfriend should have went to beauty school because she can just look at a style and fix it for you. So while visiting my other cousin Conner came to visit too. Conner is going to college in the Fall so I really hope that he will come and visit on his spring break. Then there was the goodbye to LB. Okay background on her and I. We have been friends since we were five. The first day of Kindergarten. So we have A LOT of history! Although I know it's not a final goodbye it's a "see ya later" it just sucks. We did set her up on Skype and have weekly Skype dates, txt daily, fb, and twitter! Love you LB!

Sunday the kids and I were at the airport at 5:30 AM! My parents took us and then Todd's parents also met us there. That goodbye sucked too. Obviously I was crying and the moms were trying to hold it in until we left for security. They all stayed at the airport until we landed safely.

Next week I will post about the first day in Houston!!

Week at my parents Part 1

While our stuff was on the moving truck and Todd had my car and our dogs driving back to Houston the kids and I spent the week with my parents. It was a very busy week to say the least! The bestie came and picked me up on Saturday afternoon and took me back to Bloomfield. Then on Sunday my mom and I decided to run to a little bit of shopping together. Monday was rainy so I really didn't do much. Not to mention Gannon was just not letting me get to far from him. I think by this point he was starting to kind of miss me. He stayed overnight without me for the very first time the night before we moved. Tuesday was a busy day. Dad and mom had to run up for a check up from one of moms surgeries. While they were up in the city I was back home getting ready for Dad's surprise retirement party! We had a great turnout! Everyone we invited showed up. We started with a HUGE list but then decided to cut it down. We wanted to have it outside but also thought if we had bad weather we wanted to be able to fit everyone in the house. When daddy walked up the steps he had no idea what was going on. He was so shocked it was great! It was also great because I was able to tell a few people bye that I wouldn't see for a bit. That was sooo hard!

Daddy (in the middle) and two of the teachers he worked with.
Hugging my cousin goodbye. This was the last time I was going to see him for awhile. My cousin Derek and I are more like brother and sister and have never lived more than an hour apart. He has always came right over if I ever needed him.

So that takes care of Saturday-Tuesday. The rest of the week is to come. This would be to long of a post if I put in my entire week! :)

Moving Day

Saturday June 2nd was our moving day! A semi pulled up to our house with a driver and one worker. I was totally excited! Of course I was going in the semi making sure everything was packed and stacked just right so we wouldn't have anything broke! I know the workers probably got annoyed with me asking so many questions but hey I wanted my stuff safe! I am happy to report that everything did arrive safely! Our items arrived on June 8th.  The kids and I were still in Indiana and it was only Todd down here. So Todd had a big day. Not only did the movers arrive but so did my new washer and dryer that Todd got me along with our cable guy too! So Todd had a busy day of unpacking and organizing. There was also a guy who came and painted the boys room. One of the rooms painted purple and the other was red on top and blue on bottom. We really couldn't have that! The blue/red room is Brayden's and we had to decorate it in IU stuff of course! Gannon's room back home was a really pretty light green and I wanted that down here too. The boys room is all unpacked and put together. We really only have a few boxes left to unpack. Todd did most of it Friday and Saturday. The kids and I flew in on June 10th. More about the arrival coming soon! :)
